2011 Queen's Square Christmas Tree is up again.
The tree cutting and installation services have been generously donated by Brian Ingold from Ingold Tree Service, Ross from Sousa Concrete and Don from Ayr Crane Service Inc. The additional lights on the tree itself as well as the trees surrounding the square were paid for by last year's donations. We are still in need of more funds to keep this tradition going for the years to come.
To support this tradition please visit the following locations in downtown Galt, where this years' donations can be made to the Queen's Square Christmas Tree and Lights Fund:
Thyssen Shoe Store
Reid's Chocolates
Krajewski Gallery
Melville Cafe
Clippers
Cambridge Farmer's Market

Here are the generous donors so far:
Every penny counts. Thank you.
The success of this initiative demonstrates how powerful our efforts can be, when we all commit in unison to making change happen.
So far, almost $1600.00 has been raised, just in the first 3 days of this campaign. Donations came from Galt businesses and its residents as well as from avid supporters, living in North Dumfries, just outside Galt's immediate boundary, whose lives evolve around Galt. Numerous individuals and organizations involved this year have also committed to the future support of this project, which is to be continued in the coming years.
All money raised in the process will go towards the purchase of lights and decorations for this year's Queen's Square Christmas Tree and will pay for the future lights and decorations to be continued through the rest of Queen's Square as well as the Galt downtown core.
As an extra incentive local artist, Alex Krajewski donated a number of limited edition reproductions of his popular painting of "Queen's Square in Winter" (value $75.00 ea., shown below) was given as a Thank You gift to every person, who contributed $70.00 or more to the newly established Queen's Square Christmas Tree and Lights Fund.
With installation of the tree covered by donated labor and equipment, money is still needed to be raised to pay for the cost of the lights and decorations.
This year the Christmas tree is back, thanks to the collective, passionate and persistent efforts of Ken Carnahan from the City of Cambridge, Councilor Pam Wolf, Anna & Alex Krajewski from the Krajewski Gallery and Andrea Stebbings form the Galt BIA. The tree cutting and installation services have been generously donated by Brian Ingold from Ingold Tree Service, Ross from Sousa Concrete and Don from Ayr Crane Service Inc.
Christmas tree at Queen's Square has been a cherished tradition that lasted for 40 years but has been missed by Galt residents and business owners since the Queen's Square renovations 2 years ago.
